OH DEAR!!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Not to many people are in the market for either of those fish once they become large and with how much either of them would eat you wouldn't be able to find someone to buy them for anywhere close to what you've spent feeding them. most large RTC and pacu people give away IF they can even find someone willing to take them off their hand.

how deep must a tank be for a rtc?

after looking them up i'm becoming rather temped

i could make an indoor pond with a plywood base, that would give it a 8' x 4' footprint, surely this would be enough?

how deep would it have to be? would 2ft high frame (so 18"-20" high watr level) be enough or does it need more?

surely 4 ft would not be enough for a 6 foot fish

RTC and PACU are the worst choices.... not only can 99% of people not house them but once you grow them up and want to get rid of them its impossible.... Killing them is your only resort. So get rid of the fish and tell your friend he cant even grow them up. Sorry to say this but most people are not dumb enough to buy an rtc, and only retards would buy a rtc bigger than a foot long

ah, i see, any suggestions for my indoor pond as i have a real urge to build such a thing???

bear in mind it must be interesting to look at from up above?

apart from the obvious, stingrays....

i've tried telling my mate but he's a bit stubborn. think i've nearly convinced him to return them and go for oscars or discus....

leave it for a few months.

by then his fish will have tripled in size.

then ask him again.

right now, he is looking at that big tank and these little tiny fish and saying 'no way will they outgrow this thing'

once he sees how fast they actually grow (you can see it week by week easily) he will probably realize you are correct.

what would be the minimum depth for a pacu if i was to build an indoor pond for a pair of them?

anyone ever heard of an indoor pond for a shoal of say a dozen rbp (piranha) ? u think that would work?

He needs to get rid of both of them, they get far too big for that tank. If he likes the look of the RTC, tell him to get a pimelodus. He could also replace the pacu with silver dollars.
