Oh I'm in Trouble

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I own 2 and both are pushing close to 30in. and would never considered eating them. To me they are just as interesting as any other tropical fish. They just get a bad rap for grow so quickly and big. Funny you never see people give a bad rap to silver arowanas or RTC or any other tropical fish that grows pass 30in.

I think telling her to get rid of it is not the best advice. How rare is it to actually find someone who wants to go to the trouble of housing such a massive fish, especially when bought on a whim. With a thousand gallons she could probablly get some massive Plecos to go in there too. Great idea, and more power to you for wanting to care for your pacu properly

Wow what a lucky guy. I think he planned this from the start. He was shopping around Walmart thinking how can I get my GF to buy me a 60" TV;)
So true. But buy the tv AFTER the tank is made so if he likes the tank better he might forget about the tv.

Apples and oranges. My tank can comfortably house four 30" arowana, while not a chance of even comimg close to being able to house 4 pacu. I would be willing to be that my four arowana take up about as much volume as a single 30" pacu.

Thanks all for your thoughts. Giving him away really isn't an option. I get that a lot of people trade for the hobby. For me, he's my pet. And even though I had know clue what I was getting into, I took on the responsibility. My adopted pitt makes me insane - she ate my baseboard off the walls. I wanted to cry but never once considered finding her a new home.

A friend is going to lend us a 150 gallon tank while we build. Pacu is growing fast!

What size tank do you have yours in?

Wow you're lucky. All I ever get from friends are betta tanks that they are done with. So now I'm basically forced to breed bettas forever.
