Just got it in the mail yesterday. No maro lens, tripod, or sb-600 yet. Just shooting on auto with a 18-70mm wide angle.

Abused wild Jeff Rapps oscar. sp. ‘Orinoco/Venezuela’. Argentea doesn't care for it.

good i know who to go to ask questions

good start, when the Sb-600 comes- you'll enjoy that, correct flash lighting changes aquatic photography like nothing else.

i am going to start with the nikon d-40 .. if this works out and i enjoy it then i will trade it in for something even more.. do you think the d-40 is enough camera to learn DSL.. i bought the canon A5-IS powershot.. pretty good pics.. but i want better..

I think R1-rider use's a Nikon D40 and his shots are outstanding. I would think the D40 would be a good novice/pro camera to start with. :D
