Not what a monster fishkeeper needs. I awoke this morning to pick up the news online(save a tree!) and suddenly, and its always without warning, we're talking water rationing again.

"A lack of April showers could bring water rationing to people throughout the East Bay. Officials at the EBMUD are warning that water levels are so low that its Board of Directors may have to vote for mandatory water rationing when it meets next month."

I'm a good guy, I don't abuse, I use my water change water in the garden and on house plants. Oh the confusion. Living in the middle of millions I guess I should expect this. I just hate the fact that there's no warning to the fact. Its straight into crisis mode for these municipalities and then they dump it on the public. Ten bucks says they raise my rates in the next 6 months!

Can't wait to hear from those of you who don't suffer these news reports as so I can start poking pins into my world map of choices of places to move to!!

We've had lots of rationing here in Alabama. There are fines for "over usage" and the like. However, it does not apply to me since I maintain aquaria, within limits of course. I hope your area can at least see wahing a car isn't the same as keeping your pets alive.

That sucks... I'm glad i live in washington, we have enough rain to send you guys some...:D

We've had the same problem for about 2-3 months now here in NC. I still do my 2x wc a week on all tanks but one the same. I guess if I'm paying for it then they don't really care.

Lucky I have water rights to the lake in my backyard. I couldn't imagine not being able to do waterchanges on my 122 tanks.

Is the lake or pond yours or on your property? Or was engineered by say an energy company.

It's a lake and my backyard ends at the water's edge. My property also has a private fishing dock and covered boathouse. My water rights extend out to the end of the 75 foot fishing dock.

So do you just hook up a RO unit to a pump from the lake

More like a sand/gravel/leaf separator to a 5-stage filtration system. The purified water is then stored in 2 large and one small storage tanks. The small 400 gal tank is to ready the change water for my brackish setups.
