Oh No! Water Rationing Again!!

Brisbane has been in a 6-7 year drought. We are on the strictest of water restrictions. These rules include 4 minute showers, no watering gardens with hose, no sprinklers, no washing cars with hose (hoses are banned pretty much) and one of the biggest rules is that you can only use a maximum of 140 litres/37 gallons of water per person per day.
Australia is worse, we've (brisbane) been on worse water restrictions for months now, our shower times are limited to 4 mins a day and our goal of usage of water a day is 90 liters.. can't water the gardens, can't use the hose at all.. I hate it soo much.

Maybe you should contact your water authority and explain you have tanks as pets. I am betting that you can get an increase in your water ration because they are considered a pet.
I saw the other day a battery gravel vac that lets you vac out the dirt into a net and the old water goes back into the tank. Didn't think it was a good idea, as the water isn't fresh water, but maybe it is an option for every other cleaning in water rationing areas.
