My fish die time to time I recently had a 7 inch cichlid and a 12 inch pleco. They died from columnaris.

The quote of a poor fish keeper. You shouldnt lose fish from time to time. If your fish die then its your fault or a accident. When my fish get ich i turn the temp up, add some salt, and add a pump or 2 to it. Ive only had problems with ich 3 times in 10 years. I have had maybe a handful of fish die on me that i would say are my fault and it made me a better fish keeper. Sucks when you lose fish but it should teach you what to do next.

O and oscaroo ive seen that you've been throwing the columnaris thing around on the site alot and im pretty sure that nice pearsei didnt die from columnaris but rather from you stressing it out when it was picked on

I have super good news for you, if the worst week in your entire life consists of some fish problems you have lived the happiest life in the whole world, congrats :)

I´m not trying to be mean, but as hobbyists we have all lost lots of fish over the years, I´ve kept fish for over 10 years.
it helps us improve our methods and husbandry when fish die, its an important lesson to learn with this hobby.

I´ve never had a single fish die from ich, I just buy this stuf that turns the water green Myaxazin or something, you dose the tank with it and after a few days its all gone. there are lots of products on the market for this so its not too bad.
Yea ich is easy to treat.None of my fish have died from ich. But columnaris is like 1000 times worse. luckily my Oscar lived. My Oscar had mucus all over his body. But know he is a lot better.

The pleco died because the guy on CL sold us an overstocked 75 gal tank. The pearsei died from stress/light case of columnaris.

I think it was both. My theory is. the pearsei got really stressed then he got a light case if columnaris. He was so stressed that the light case of columnaris had a larger affect. He got so stressed that he killed himself. But if he did not get the columnaris he would have probably lived.
