This is sad, and a lot of fish will be effected too. One day the Mekong river will not have anything living in it. Everything will be eaten or destroyed by humans :(

Happens with so many species of fish/animals.

Yeah i feel this is a special case seeing as its a freshwater dolphin population, how many species of FW cetacean are there? Like 2 or 3?... they havent legally been able to harvest these for a really long time. Im all for responsible fishing for food, in thailand if you catch a giant mekong cat you need to pay for 3 more to be released from a fishery but dams just kill everything. Hopefully the dams projected enviromental impact will stall or even stop it from being built.

Change the Mekong river with THE ENTIRE PLANET and your statement becomes more true.

This is a tragedy but it's not like we have any right to criticise them for this. In the western world most of the big fish species are near extinction thanks to humans changing rivers to how they want them, be it to gain energy or just for ships etc.

That's so sad I wish something could be done to stop it

So many arguments between industrialization and innovation vs the environment. This is just a small part of it.
