i have some 1/2 inch thik panels that are 5 foot by 3 for sale in ohio

i kind of agree with Killerfish that by going 24" wide, you give yourself options down the road.
i dont think you will need it with the fish you are planning now, but who knows. if you ever switch the inhabitants, the extra room could come in handy.

lol what types of darters and daces? sorry not really familiar with those names but its good to see some one doing a ohio native tank

Dace, Darters probably a species or two of shiners.
Do you know what species you're getting? The black nose dace are nice. If you can find them, I also recommend southern red belly dace. There's a stream near here that's full of them and they are gorgeous-really nice red/black contrast and nice sparkling gold lines. As far as darters, rainbows, orange throats, and bluebreasts are all awesome. Some green sides and log perch would also be cool to add a little size variation as well

I've been in there a few times most recently looking for some Prime. I was in last Christmas and snatched up one of those nicely priced FX5's :D I can get glass pretty cheap but most of what we have thats about to be tossed cant be cut because its tempered glass for doors. I'm at home with the wife and the new baby atm but on wed I'll get some measurements on whats about to get tossed. I can get specific cuts pretty cheap so If you like I can get a price on what you mentioned above and it usually only takes a few days to get in.

Apple Creek runs through my parents back yard and I've caught all kinds of small stream fish in the past 20... yikes I'm getting old... :( So what ever I get out of there will go in the tank. I might have to go online tho because I'd really like some rainbow darters.

any idea how much it would cost to make glass tops for a 180?
my tank is euro braced, so the tops wouldn't necessarily need to be 36" long on each side
i'm not in the market for a tank like yours yet, but i will be in the future. are you able to get large pieces very often (or at all)?

glass tops shouldnt be to hard you just need the plastic hinge correct? I was looking for some of that to fix my sons top and it was $12 for a 6' section. 1/4" tempered will be real cheap. My 1/2" tempered piece for my 600 was about $160 and that was after the edges were sanded and everything. The glass itself was about $7.50 a sq foot if I remember correctly. Just to keep this thread on topic send me PMs for what you need.
