ok so i bought this fish tank with the stand and filter dirt cheap the problem is the guy spilled oil in it ...so now i bought it and you cant see the oil but when you fill it up you can see a little bit .. so will this affect the fish and whats the easiest way to take it off ... thank you

pressure was the tank

i would get a good brand washing up liquid like fairy and scrub the tank. this should break down any oil. then rinse thoroughly with clean water. once its set up run carbon in the filter for a week or 2 just in case you happened to miss any residue of the washing up liquid..

I thought I read somewhere that EITHER Bleach or Ammonia remove oil stains. Either way anything you use will have to be thoroughly cleaned out prior to introducing any fish or inverts.

agree-pressure wash it and then run it with extra carbon in it til it clears up.-throw aaway all filter media and start over. This would be a good time to use that old filter for its final few times and toss it after

damn now i just need a pressure washer

This would be a good way to damage the seals in your tank. The high pressure will seperate the silicone from the glass. Just use dishwashing soap and make sure you rinse well.
