get a larger tank and then come back. if you cant afford it then you are out of luck and go find another hobby. don't torture fish in a tank that is a mere 55g. monster fish do not do well in anything less than 100g. the more room, the more natural it is. for EVERYTHING.
Apparently manners are not your strong suit.

For a couple nice predators in a 55 I think I would go with a gangetic leaf fish (Nandus nandus), you could also keep an asian bumblebee cat (Pseudomystus siamensis) with it as they both max out at around 8" long and even have an overlapping home range.

If it was me I would go with guppy's idea. That leaf fish looks like a mini pearch.

Damn straight! I was thinking why has nobody said Leaf fish?? they are sweet fish, I have 3 and they are awsome! Everyone who sees them are amazed at how still they sit then slam those feeders with great speed! I would get myself a couple of leafs for sure!

dr sudz POST PICS!!! PLEASE!!! And I agree Leaf fish would be a really cool fish. But I also like the Bumblebee cat idea. I had one of these, and it was awesome, right up until my bristlenose plec killed it.

What about electric blue dempseys? They are nice to look at and you can probably get away with 2 in a 55... Or you can do an Oscar they have personality!!! I love the flowerhorn myself but I have one growing in a 65 gallon and fear It may be too small when hes full grown.. so I guess it depends much on the demensions of your tank also.. But Jack Dempseys are cool!!

As I pointed out, the Nandus and the Pseudomystus could be kept togethher as they are of similar requirements, size, and temperment with the added bonus of actually coming from the same home range.

something very simalair to thr leaf, but with a diff. pattern, would be the centopama leopard. It Has the big mouth and has a golden body, with black spots. you could keep a couple. Not a pre ditor, but an interesting cleaner, the hoplo catfish, Is like an overgrown cory with tough armour. I am ordering around 4 5" ones for $5 each
