yea real nice red jewels
 
ive breed them like 3 seperate times trying to get a deep bright red color out of different ones. Then I gave up... Im still in school lol... They wont be shy for too long...
 
they are my most owner responsive fish
always begging for food
have ten of them in a single tank
once i got them i had to get a new tank for them
 
Hemichromis(jewels) species are from african river systems originally. Jewels like the ones you have are bred like many other cichlids with so many generations in captivity they adapt to just about any regular water parameters. These can be killers especially when spawning. I had a 5" male kill a 5" female & 7" male pr. of labiatums(red devil) & a 6" male nigrofasciatus(convict) years ago. nice fish though

your right i have to get them moved i'm seeing nipped fins
setting up my 40 hex today my 285 needs a water change
cycleing wont be an issue i have a bio packe canester for thr system on the hex along with water from mt 285 should be in good shape to move them byfriday

now the quistion i have is how am i going to keep the fry from going to my sump ? i have a reef tank
