it's a sponge which will strip all the crap out of your water, kinda like super carbon if you see what I mean.
Most lfs will sell it. just google underworld polyfilter and you'll see what the packet looks like

ok, poly filter found but its miles away, im picking it up tonu=ight on way to work and i'll be a good 10hrs before i can get it in the tank....

Melafix eh? That explains the cloudiness and bubbles, be careful with that stuff, it might have been overdosed.

just going back over this to clear it up, it was only a 1/4 dose as im scared witless of mixing meds with my bowfin.....

i use polyfilter 24/7 on my tank 4 x sheets of the standard size changed every 3 weeks

i think polyfilter is the best media on the planet its expencive but i wouldnt be able to keep my tank the way it is without polyfilter

if you look on ebay you can get the standard size polyfilter for £6 per sheet

nope, luckily otherwise id of jumped out the window, ive become well attached to it just like my black.... my black and justins rtg are doing ok for now, dont look very happy but are alrite... im busting my nutt to get this figured....

thanks for the heads up about ebay... ill stock up but im still gona go grab some big sheets from store today.... price dont matter, long as fish are ok!

That's what I would do. Any sort of chemical, in my mind, is risky. I think you're on the right track with the polyfilter and water changes. I think the aquarium salt is key also because that really helps clear out the gills.
