ok im lost this dosent make any sense?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well my second aro just died i added stress zyme and a poly pad to the tank the carben filter hasn't been running yet i have them on 3 different canisters 2 for filter pads and one for media. as for the carbon being spent that would make since but how would the water tern that fast the is what im finding weird is the filters weren't even on when i took the tests and yes it take 30 to 45 minits to fill the tank but i was testing every few inches of water height and it was not changing the cem readings i have never seen this before. i have had tanks spike and kill fish but after one or two water changes the chem lvls would return . were in this case i just cant get it to drop

Was the tank not cycled before you added the fish? That is a huge bio load top just throw into a newly set up tank.

Ps sorry for your losses

Tank up and running for 3 weeks isn't cycled for that many big predators and a 200 gallon water change completely took away any bacteria you had just started to grow. Also I don't kno if u do or not but don't rinse any of the filter components w tap water it just kills the bacteria. You are gonna loose fish find someone that can hold the fish LFS something until that tanks ready.

Your tank deffinately isnt cycled. Im suprised no one mentioned that he had a ammonia reading of .25, you should have NO AMMONIA reading. Obviously your tank needs more beneficial bacteria. read up about the Nitrogen cycle and you will understand why your fish are dying, the ammonia and nitrite is whats killing them not the nitrate.

Feed them less and stop doing large water changes, just add some ammonia detoxifier and nitrite detoxifier every 2nd day to make sure the ammonia in your water isn't toxic and give the bacteria a chance to grow, also dose your tank with a live bacteria product.

Yea cycling a tank w/ these monsters is bad esp since they give off ammonia!!!

And the big water changes futher stunted ur bb from developing!

Ammonia is toxic, more bio media no carbon and keep tabs on the water

So sorry for ur loss

i was worried about yousing the prim because i have never had any experence with it before and will it counter act the stress zyme ? the filter pads have never been rinsed. i added some salt to the tank the cats are slim coating but breathing has slowed down. the big water changes was because i could do nothing else for the fish and i have no place to put the fish i dont trust my lfs with my luck thay would sell them. thank you for your help im so hopeing i dont lose anything else

how should i yous the prim full dose every 10 hours or will this hurt the fish im scared of chem locking this tank
