Very good ideas!

Weylin sounds like you should be contributing with some sort of thread about conditions in your setup, and details...

It would also be nice to see a thread from King-eL about the variation from different farms of endlicheri.

Maybe clean up the primer and take away posts that are just "great info!" and such. Its daunting to come to a site, see a primer, and see that its 8-10 (or however many) pages long, plus those posts don't add any real value to information on bichirs. Maybe also post some recommended tank sizes (I don't remember if its already on there, been a while since I've read the primer).

:iagree: Clean up the sticky threads and leave only information is a good idea. Yes, this is by far the most informative bichir forum.:)

I think everything is pretty well covered other than what has been mentioned. i would like to read more on disease treatment especially. thanks for everything so far!

Maybe a master Poly Encyclopedia. (That includes hybrids and pure breds.) Basically just like a list of just every known species of Bichir with it's max size or estimated size by it, if its upper or lower jaw and a picture of the listed species. Because sometimes I'll hear someone talk about a certaint species of Bichir I've never heard of and I'll try to find a decent picture of it but sometimes you need to travel deep into the site to find one or if even might not be able to find a picture in general. Also if a species has a known morph, short body, albino. Then it would be nice to have those placed with the species too.

Example: Senegal Bichir (Polypterus Senegalus)

Known Max size: 17"

Normal Senegal:

Albino Senegal: (Max Size: 10")

Black Senegal Morph:

All credit for these photos goes to their owners.

I know there's more just can't think of any ATM. But Basically you get the idea right? That was just my little thought, but nobody has to bother with it though.

I agree with the idea of getting rid of all the comments posted on the stickies and just leaving the information! It needs to be more precise! The other thing that I would find really helpful is maps for each species showing their range of distribution! Maps showing national borders and major rivers would be even better! When the "Koliba" variant came out I spent about four hrs. online before I could find where the Koliba river was. Still haven't found if "Koloton" and "Diablo" is a town, river or geographic location. I've seen a map of Africa with colored blotches showing location, but with no national borders or rivers it really doesn't do much to help identify collection locallities. With all the new variants coming along, detailed maps would be very helpful! Otherwise, a really great forum! Johnathan

Why not add all the known wild bichir species, region variants, color morphs, body mutations, wild hybrids and captive hybrids? Which bichir species that have been successfully breed in captivity and which are being mass breed? Which bichir species that have not yet been breed in captivity?
