I will be doing a breeding tank in my 30 gallon now my question is way fish do you recommend to get
A. Must be easy to breed
B.fry must grow fast
C.the parents must not try to eat their eggs or fry
And look colorful at the same time the fry must grow fast though as I want to use them for feeders for my red tail cuda and it's safer to feed to my fish since I know what the fish will be eating ;)

convicts are the easiest cichlid to breed if not easiest fish to breed. they protect thier young you never have to sepreate if they are the only tank mates and they breed like rabbits.
 
Two types of convict, albinos or the normal one.

Normal convicts and albinos differ in body color.

Get them when they're adults (6-10cm ish) then it's relatively easy to sex them. Male has no/little orange, has long flowing fins and a slightly raised forehead. Females have orange on their bellies. Very, very apparent orange.

What you can do is get a female albino and a male normal convict, which will look nice side by side.

Also no this is not hybridization because they're just color morphs of the same species.

They can start breeding at quite an early age, and quite small as well. 4-5cm is enough for them to start breeding. Note that enough does not equate to them definitely breeding at that size. Best get them larger.

They form monogamic bonds, so you'll only need a single male and a single female. Once they bond, they'll bond for life.

You don't have to remove the fry, and they do take care of their fry very well, so it is completely absolutely unnecessary.
 
I just had a pair of fire mouths spawn, didnt do anything fancy, hell didn't even know they were a pair, a little cooler then convicts IMO, and no I'm not a convict hater, I have a 4.5 inch female convict that Ive had for years.

hey azekenkae love that idea on the albino and the reg.
but how do i sex the albino now????????should i get a female albino or reg?????
