Ok made up my mind

Two types of convict, albinos or the normal one.

Normal convicts and albinos differ in body color.

Get them when they're adults (6-10cm ish) then it's relatively easy to sex them. Male has no/little orange, has long flowing fins and a slightly raised forehead. Females have orange on their bellies. Very, very apparent orange.

What you can do is get a female albino and a male normal convict, which will look nice side by side.

Also no this is not hybridization because they're just color morphs of the same species.

They can start breeding at quite an early age, and quite small as well. 4-5cm is enough for them to start breeding. Note that enough does not equate to them definitely breeding at that size. Best get them larger.

They form monogamic bonds, so you'll only need a single male and a single female. Once they bond, they'll bond for life.

You don't have to remove the fry, and they do take care of their fry very well, so it is completely absolutely unnecessary.

Ok I'm going with the convicts now for deco???can I just leave it plain or does it need specific things for the breeding???

I reckon female albino, male reg. The male reg will show its stripes very clearly, and that can be amazing to look at, if you get a really good specimen. The female albino will still have orange on its belly like a normal female normal, and the orange-white will make it look amazing.

Something like this:

My other question is my lfs has some big convict males and small convict females in separate tanks my question is will they breed even tough the male is bigger??the small ones have slot of orange on their tummy??

Convicts are highly sexually dimorphic... The females max out much smaller than the males, so it isn't necessarily an issue that the females you saw in the store are smaller.

Convict is widely considered to be the easiest, but if it were me I would rather try breeding brichardi cichllids because of their spawning and parental behavior. Not only do the parents take care of the fry - the older fry also help take of successive broods! Seems to me it would be very interesting

Nah, females are always smaller because they are usually always breeding and focus all of their energy towards that and not growing, I have a female that's never been bred and she's 4.5-5" most males dont even get that big
