Oops, forgot about this thread, gomenasai. Yeah larger male/smaller female is fine. They do like to pair up and stay as a pair, but when you move them about they'll re-pair up again. May take a while, may not, but they will breed. Just have to be patient.

Lol it's ok thank you for answering right now the male is following the female around like they follow eachother then separate ??

Lol well convicts is definitely a good choice for a first time breeder. :) Well, good luck mate, throw up some pics in the CA forum if/when they breed. :)) Also did you decide on having plants or bare tank?

Yes inwas thinking some driftwood some sword plants and a couple ferns?

Convicts do not fit in with the original stipulations. Theyre not at all colorful and thier frys are extremely slow growing. Other then that, they're easy as heck to breed

I prefer easy so I'd go with still go with convicts or livebearers. If your main intention is for feeders, I'd have a separate grow out tank to place the fry in so your pair can start a new batch because it'll be awhile before they're big enough to use as feeders. You'll want the constant supply. The convicts won't breed while there's fry present

Now I don't know to go with either guppies or convicts??? If I go with guppies I'll throw them in feeder nets that way the fry will fall in the tank itself?????
