I got a some glass pieces (from a set of automatic entrance doors) and I'd like to know what to make out of them. The size is 43x38 (2 pieces) and 43x31 (2 pieces) The glass is tempered I think, and is about 1/4" thick....give me some ideas! Thanks everyone:)

That's easy! You can make a bottomless fishtank, HAHA! j/k...

The span of the glass vs. the 1/4" thickness doesn't really lend itself to holding water if you used them in their existing state. I'd think that the glass itself would bow excessively. Only real option to do anything for fish would be to have the glass cut and make smaller tanks out of it.

If I had that glass in my possession, I would actually have it cut and make glass tops out of it, being that I'm notorious for cracking them, haha....but that's just me :).

could I make a decent lizard or frog home?

I guess you could. The only problem is that with the dimensions of the glass you'd either have to have a tank that's 43" high with a bottom and top of a different material (plywood maybe?) or a 31" or 38" high tank with sides of a different material if you wanted to use the majority of the glass pieces. Just realize that the higher the tank, the harder it is to get to the bottom and clean. I'd also construct a frame out of wood to reinforce the glass. I also wouldn't consider it for a larger snake or lizard because they could bust thru the glass.

If it's tanks you want, you can always make 4 plywood tanks and use the glass for the fronts. I still wouldn't use them for fish though. The 1/4" thickness is pushing it.

it would take a hell of a strike to bust this stuff, I've seen people pound on this glass with their fist.
(we accidently dropped a hammer on it today too lol)

I'm only assuming that it is tempered, I didnt see a sheet in the middle of it like laminated glass.

You could make 4 reptile enclosures each with a front glass view window.Line em up like a zoo exhibit:popcorn:

Haha...don't mind me, I'm more of a pessimist :)....If you dropped a hammer on it, the glass is probably tempered, which would mean if you tagged the edge, it would shatter.
