Great tank and choice of cichlids. 3D backgrounds give tanks a more natural look when done correctly as you have. Your friend Justin (JK47) is another pro at this. I would like to see your other set ups too once you rearrange the fish. How do your fish interact? Is there much aggression?
The background actually came from him and he did most of the installation of the BG to be honest. I've done two other BGs on my own since then, but he gets all the credit for this one. Thanks a ton bro!
As far as interaction, every CA community has its quirks. Believe it or not the cutteri pair run the tank. When they spawn (CONSTANTLY, as soon as their fry get eaten they do it again) they get super aggressive. If you look closely, the cutteri male is the only fish in the tank with absolutely perfect fins.
Other than cutteri, the two male freddys occasionally battle it out since they're reaching sexual maturity to claim the nicest female. Interestingly, she seems to have chosen the somewhat smaller, more colorful male.
The argentea are mainly aggressive to each other, they killed the smallest one of the group a while back, and beat the snot out of the second smallest, but I put (guessing it's a her from the size) her in a hospital tank and healed her up and successfully reintroduced her, and she's been doing well now.
Black belt male is a jerk to his female, some days they're fine and some days she hides. That big rock on the left is actually a cave with an entrance cut out of the back where she can get in and he can't... He parks himself in the corner and watches her in the cave with one eye, biting the BG back there in frustration... Men, eh? He's ready to breed and she isn't going for it.
Damn, thats a nice tank man, great scaping
Thanks.
I have to say it is one of the nicest looking tanks I've seen, you did an awsome job with it, it really is somthing to be proud of. Your stock looks great too, healthy and well cared for. Great job!
Thanks a lot. They only get fed NLS pellets exclusively, and get lots of water changes.
Dude both you and Justin have mad skills in aquascaping.
Thanks. We hang out a lot and try to give each other tips, always good to have a second pair of eyes in aquascaping.
