haha, im not on top of bicher breeds and prices or i would of probally jumped on these lol,
oh and blondie please do not take this the wrong way, i want you to know i respect your love for this creature and all of your knoledge about them which by the way has helped me out alot, but when you say that after the eggs hatch and they use all of the nutrients that cannabalism and fighting cause alot of the deaths which i believe is very true, well although i dont know much on this species it i know it is the same with any species of anything that, letting this completley natruaral process ake place and not individually serperating each bicher, you will prodose the best line of bichers possible...
Only the Strong Survive
once again please dont take any of this the wrong way and know again i respect all of your knoledge, just stating these facts, what do ya think

Not taking it the wrong way but most people are concerned with keeping and raising as many fry as possible to sell especially in some countries where a senegal can go for $100.00 or more.
Theres nothing wrong with the old circle of life stuff unless you're hoping to sell them off-Anne

My favorite bichir species is P. weeksi, but you'll have a hard time finding one for $30. They're usually around $50 for an adult. I rarely see juvies.

BTW, $9 delhezis? Buy 3 and spend the rest on a beer!

I don't agree. Breeding fish in an aquarium and fish breeding in their natural environment are very different. And using the natural process to produce the best line would be highly inefficient. And how would you exactly define "best line" possible? Are you going for color? size? temperament? somekind of trait like longer fins? Those things can only be done by selecting traits which can only be seen when the fish are older. How would you do this if all of your possible candidate has been eaten?

since you asked, i suggest bring some extra money. im sure as you see other species you'd be set off on getting them so bring at least a hundred just in case, saves you time and gas of having to go back again just in case you wanted more but didn't bring enough cash. =) one bichir is usually not enough hehe ask anne!

One is never enough lol-Anne
