i bought 8 F1 "Ae." Rivulatus and put them in a 60 gallon tank with silk plants and a few odd hiding places.. and then i proceded to feed an empty tank for a year. the food always disappeared, but the ONLY time i saw them was when i moved the decorations and plants around to clean the tank.

when i moved them to the 110 in my bedroom i got to see them more.. but not a lot more.

My sister's ex found a snowflake eel in his sump in the garage one time when I was with him watching his salt water tank. He didn't know how it got there, or what it fed on to stay alive; I asked him when he bought it, he said about a year ago, and it promptly disappeared a few weeks after being dropped into the main tank.

He said h's going to get just a tank for him since it seems the eel is good luck, and when I checked on the ex a few weeks after the eel was found, he said it died!!!

Think the eel was better off staying hid.
