heres the deal this lfs near my house has a savanah monitor juvie...that is 39.99 with 25% off so it would be like 32.00 or so...im thinking of gettin it wat u guys think i know how big it gets ive had niles and peach throats in the past...u think this is good price..also in a few weeks when i get a another job i m going to be gettin a timor monitor so i will have 2 wat do u guys think of the savanah though i need ur oppinions before 6

How long did yuou have toe Niles, and why did you get rid of them?

:D savannahs are probably the way to go if you want a nice monitor that will not outgrow your house.....ie nile.....ie water monitor!!!!!! I put niles on par with tokays as far as spawn of satan.......both go down in my books as "worst purchases"..........timor's are a little more managable, but keep a close eye on the razor sharp claws!!!!!! good luck man!!:headbang2

welll i got the niles when i was around 12...it was a friends of mine and he moved so i took care of him..it was really friendly..he was about 2 feet when i got rid of him he was 5 feet and i was moving to a different house...so the landlord didnt like the idea of a 5 foot lizard roaming the house so i had to get rid of it so its know at a local reptile exhibitor and hes currently 8 feet and a beauty

the timor i want is pretty friendly im not really worryin about the claws..ive been bit , scratch and whiped by alot of herps in my time and im pretty used to it

Savannah Monitors make exelent pets. I have one my self and he is a great lizard. They only get to a maximum of 3 feet. It does get pricey to feed them, mine is on the proper diet of bugs. He has a bowl big enough for him to swim in and is very tame. They are great pets.

yeah i have seen savanahs all the time when i workd at the lfs..but they are common and i want something differnt that is why im gettin the timor when i get more money..im not worried about the food bill...and i think they get a little biggerr then 3 feet

Adult males may average closer to 3 and a half feet. I personally have never seen any sav over 4 ft. Not saying they can't get that big; just that I've never encountered one myself. But to say that their maximum is 3 ft isn't accurate.

ANyway, I think that price is decent for a juvie sav. You seem to know a thing or two about monitors, so you know what's involved with caring for them. If you're willing to meet its needs and commit to it, I say go for it. Just consider that Timor you're planning to get as well; will you be able to afford to keep both?

yeah i get rats and stuff for free...sometimes..from my friend that works at a lfs..and i plan on buildin the big enclosure as soon as i find work...but i a huge reptarium for the timor and a 30 gallon for the savanah know...so they should be good for the months to come until the setup and my job is in line..but the plans for the timor is a tall cag and the savanah wider and long...so i figure they will sit next to each other and fit in the room perfect..
