After three threads on this site failed to define what "Monster" is concerning fishkeeping, how about a round of what "isn't monster."

I propose that lightly stocked community tanks of small, brainless fish "isn't monster."

I, personally consider a "monster" tank larger than a 90gal. A "monster" fish, anything that grows larger than 10-12 inches. But that's just me. Let's get some feedback from everyone!!

I would think monster has to be a fish that reaches over 12 inches and has the ability to eat other fish.

I would think monster is a fish that requires a minimum of 100g preferably 300g+

Well, I think having a big tank with giant fish is a waste... its the same effect as small tank with small fish... they just sit and hover all day. Whoopie!

Now a monster tank with hundreds of schooling fish... I think that awesome. Huge levels of activity!

i feel that monster on this web site should refer to your monster interest and passion for the hobby i keep smaller uruguyan cichlids and tetras but im on monster fish keepers. i dont look at it as having to have monster fish.

yep.. its been gone over again and again... monster is not definedby whats in the tank but by what is in the heart...

A monster fish is a fish that is prehistoric, predatory or literally monstrous. A monster aquarium is one that is over 100g, and if that tank contains small tetras and such, that is not a monster tank, but a large community.

it depends on what youre into i think... ive got only a 38gal tank, but i consider my BN pleco and the silver dollars that i will son be getting to be "monster" just for their unique traits.

and, for all i care, a monster tank could be a 38gal with 2 gulper cats.

A FISH OF ANY SIZE

ITS THE ATTITUDE THAT MATTERS
