To answer the OP's specific question, if there "isn't" a subforum for the kind of fish you keep, MFK doesn't "classify" it as it monster. If it's missing odds are good it's over on AC. All are welcome so passion obviously counts for something or you would have to register what kind of fish you keep before signing up on MFK.

Who cares what "isn't" monster, if your hooked on the site, odds are good you'll end up owning monsters eventually... Overdoing the hobby is what's monster.
I really like this post :headbang2 Well said.

A FISH OF ANY SIZE

ITS THE ATTITUDE THAT MATTERS

I completely agree!!! I keep the world's smallest perciform, Dario dario, which get 0.75" long as adults. They have the attitudes of dwarf cichlids and colors to rival any marine fish. Plus, they're rare in the hobby. In my books, they're definitely monster.

The official word on this is that to qualify as a monster fish keeper you must have an aquarium that is equal to or exceeds 300 gallons in volume is at least 6 feet long and is at least 2 feet front to back. Your livestock must exceed 12 inches in length unless incredibly aggressive than it can be at least 10 inches in length. All fish species must eat live foods 2 or more times per week and be capable of intimidating or causing damage to other tank mates or small children if they stray to close to the tank. If you meet all of these conditions and have a post count greater than 350 posts you are officially a monster fish keeper.

Or alternately if you really like the hobby and enjoy both your aquarium(s) and communicating with fellow hobbyists, then you are also an official monster fish keeper. :)

MONSTER is an attitude, not a size. For example, my Mosquitofish have more of a kicka** attitude then my Senegal. The attitude of the keeper is important too :grinyes:

If I'm not mistaken AC is for your more traditional tanks, and MFK is for extra large oddballs, but because MFK gets way more traffic, and people that keep monsters keep other fish too, MFK is the more popular of the two sites. I've just recently starting using AC, and some #@)(*%&! already took my screename!

i change my answer. if there is a subforum on mfk of the fish u have, then its monster, just cuz there is obviously a place for u on mfk haha.
