Why don't you see if some one in your area would trade a few fish or something for a bigger tank. Trades happen all the time here.

Try a 75 gallon tank for the oscar. They get 16 inches long- more than the depth of a 55 gallon tank. As for the pacus, you're talking about a tank measuring in the hundreds of gallons. Try keeping the gouramis but getting rid of the other fish... btw, got the dimensions on the 50 gallon tank? Not really a common size.

you need to do more than a 5 gallon water change. that is only 10 percent. you need to do 20 gallon water changes on that tank. 2-3 a week. but you will still need to upgrade your tank.

48x12x20. so by all the replies im guessing that my problem of the gouramis not eating is that i have too many fish in the tank? my oscar and pacu are still very small same with the columbians, especially compared to the pink kissing gouramis which are both 5- 6 inches long . when the fish get big i plan on selling them, or if i have the money get a 100+ gal tank. but if im going to spend that kind of money i want a to start a SW tank(this time take my time and think things out instead of impulse buying)

do you really think that much water change is necessary that often (obviously you do cuz you said it) , if so why should i change that much water that often?

i change 10 gallons a week on my 35, which houses a 4 inch fish and a 2 inch fish. you tank is bigger and more heavily stocked than mine, therefore, you should change way more water than me.

btw, you will need a 500+ gallon tank if you want to keep the pacu. not just a 100+;)

You're heading in the right direction, but you're not quite there yet. 100 gallons will not be sufficient for the pacu, several hundred would suffice.

It is quite normal for fish to stop eating after a big change. They will resume when they settle in. Just stop feeding for a week or two to help them out.

I bought a 2 inch pacu that grew to almost a foot in about 6 months.....so you need to find a new home for that one. Your oscar is going to kill your gouramis soon. So you won't have to find a new home for them lol. You can trade your pleco in for a smaller one when the time comes. Trade the columbian shark for a pictus or synodontis catfish. And then you'll have your oscar left, which should give you ample time to save for the 75 gal you'll need for it. Problem solved! :nilly:

All else aside, your gouramis could be stressed from the move still or the o could be freaking them out. Buy a 30 gal or more for your gouramis and you should be fine if you want to keep them. Eventually they will become food for the others you have in there.

If my fish eat the others, GOOD for them, nature at its best! Do you think any LFS will trade/buy the pacu?
