Im not an older member, but I switched to reptiles and other critters from fish keeping as having fish tanks was giving me too much anxiety lol.
Still love fish and love coming to the forum to lend a hand when I can.

yes change happens.. and we all roll with the tide... things that are antiquated do get to come back... and sometimes even more impressive then prior.. so hang on.. and be unique...

Just like in real life, you learn to adapt, or you fade away. LFS, fish forums, whatever, it's all the same.

Just browsing MFK and looked at a post regarding old members. Seemed like most if not all were disappointed with the current state of the forum.

Most of what, a handful? Thousands have come and gone over the years that I have been here. Some got married, some had kids, some went to other social media platforms, especially a few yrs ago when MFK went down for days/weeks, and some died.

Personally I hate cry babies. If there is something that someone doesn't like, then get off your ass and put some effort into changing it. Start a thread, make a post, post a photo, possibly doing so will inspire someone else. Pissing and moaning doesn't accomplish anything.

All this OG talk in threads makes me want to puke. Probably a good thing that Hendre (very wisely) closed that last thread before I got my licks in. Bunch of freaking hypocrites around here.

BTW - Hello Red Devil Red Devil long time no see!

I wasn't singling you out, Frank. You aren't the only person that uses that term, or has used it recently on MFK. Ironically enough, in a recent thread where you were naming some older members (not in age necessarily) and placing them on somewhat of a pedestal, the one member mentioned has probably killed more fish in the last 10 yrs, than I have owned in the last 50. I guess sometimes people only see what they want to see, and perhaps some folks only post on MFK what they want their peers to see. Interesting what one sometimes finds on local forums. Being around for any length of time doesn't equate to knowing what one is doing, or following any kind of real fish keeping standard. Killing BIG MONSTER fish doesn't impress me. Neither does the term OG.

I think what some members forget, is that if all MFK was designed to do was discuss fish 2ft or better, in 500 gallon tanks, or better, MFK would be no longer. Then they could piss and moan in their basement, by themselves, while reliving the good ol days.

Um.... ok.
I have no clue who your talking about man. Might be better if you bring it up with him/her.

Anyway. There are certain members/mods that no longer post that i do kind of miss having around. Not a big deal

By the way, I guess I've been away from the West too long, what does OG stand for? Original Guy, Outstanding Gal, Old Grouch, Omnipotent Genius or....? Before this I've only heard of OG Kush lol.

One thing I have learned is Frank's going to be Frank and Neil's going to be Neil.
...and Dave's gonna be Dave (but I knew that).
Everybody is part of and makes up what MFK is. Most of all I like the mods and staff. All in all I am glad there is an MFK.

I guess I'm not new but I am certainly not an "OG" or whatever the Crazy Canuck wants to call it. The forum is definitely dying and becoming less of a source of interaction and more of a publicly accessible archive. The newer posters don't seem to have as much enthusiasm or interest in the fish the older generation of posters keep. If you were to bump a thread about a JDM tank and these new members who seem to know everything see it the threads aren't filled with questions regarding filtration or any of the technical aspects of fish keeping its more about how unethical it is to keep fish in close quarters and how they have basic human rights and stuff. I log on less and less nowadays and when I do its mostly just to see if the sumos and ballins have appeared back in the lounge. I still check in from time to time but I can see the traffic and quality of threads are down even in the lounge.
