who here on the forum has the oldest build aquarium that is still up and running or atleast will still hold water? i just recently bought a used 125 gallon tank a few weeks ago and the build date on it is 1985, this tank is only one year younger than i am. lol

so if you got an old tank post the build date.

My 55 doesn't have a date on it anymore, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's that old. The person I got it from (for free, about 7 years ago) had resealed it (poorly) at least once. I had to reseal it again when I got it and it's so scratched up from years of use that it looks like someone scrubbed the algae off with sand paper.

I have two tanks a 20 and 23 that are from the 60's. No labels to back that up though.

They use to be my dads old tanks back when he was a fish keeper. He even has pics of them on old slides.

Is it a metal framed tank?

I would love to get my hands on a small tank from the 60's and stock it with cherry barbs and plants and snails. That would be the crown jewel tank in my collection.

there is someone here who collects the old metal fram/ slate bottom tanks. Those have to be old as hell. but I can't remember who it is.

I have a 55g that was made in 1990, by all glass, I think the workmanship speaks for itself on this tank =]

last year i found a meal frame tank in the back room of my old high school helping an old teacher he said it belonged to a retired bio teacher at lease from the early 80s
