We don't have catch and release laws in most of the Middle East countries , and besides , it wasn't my catch it was my dad's friend so I couldn't really say anything. It was dead when they came into the dock. figured the damage had been done so there's no point letting it go to waste. and yeah It did taste pretty good. except for Mackrel , i was under the impression that the older the fish is , the worse it will taste -- clearly I was wrong!

Lack of laws like this is why I want to become a fisheries biologist. Also to the OP no offense I to have been in a similar situation with a bluefin tuna. Where my uncle was the one who caught it.

Thats what I figured. At least you didn't waste it.
 
Wow huge . How long did it take to bring something like that up?

I heard several areas of Middle East known for big groupers.

I think other than USA , Australia and Europe most places do not have catch release laws .
