OMG AROWANAS SCALES

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
There is nothing wrong with that aro, you are in a panic for nothing. The scales that's something physical , he bumped into/jumped into/rubbed up against something, it'll heal in no time.

Is for other points to touch on, I agree It's not dropsy, and it's certainly not fungus, It's just physical. Is the guy who told you it's fungus the same guy who told you to dump in the whole prime and that got you worried about PH and drop eye ?? If so stop asking him questions lol he doent know what he's talking about and leaves you worrying for nothing lol.

Also , Nice looking arowana!

Hope that helps.

tank has .5 amonia and thats it nothing else

You can't have an ammonia level of .5 and have 0 nitrites and nitrates. I would have your water tested the tank isn't cycled. If you get your actual water perameters you will see. 1 tablespoon of salt per ten gallons will help until the tank cycles. Small daily water changes will help also.

It looks like a healthy fish to my untrained Aro eye. I would just keep the water and environment as clean as possibile and watch it. Please have your water tested.

The tank isn't cycled, and I think that is what has caused the initial panic. I haven't heard of salt helping a tank cycle, but people either seem to swear by using salt or don't touch the stuff so the decision is up to you monsterfishdude.

Don't "don't even worry" about the pH, but just keep an eye on it for now. If you have no decor like wood in the tank it should swing too much even if you have low hardness. As long as it is somewhere between 6-7 just leave it a is. Remember ammonia is far more toxic in high pH...

and +2 to DC's advice...

Just to clarify the salt will not help the tank cycle it helps with resperation by improving gill function and lessens the toxic effects of ammonia and nitrites. It will help the fish survive the cycle.
