Guys you can prevent this... If you are SUPER worried about it then every 5 or so years drain the tank and reseal it just to be safe... I do not do this but if some of you guys are paranoid about this happening that could be a good solution!

You can prevent this? Just drain and reseal an acrylic tank? Interesting concept......
 
Yeah haha idk about that either DB, I'm building a water catcher under my build that will run directly to the rain gutter so if it has even a steady flow leak it'll be fine, as long as the glass doesn't completely blow out haha

That blows though man, if the rays got out that would be one sketchy time getting em back in

One doesn't simply "just reseal" an acrylic tank.

Thats my biggest fear, tank blow outs. Wonder if there is any way to prevent it from happening at all or is it bound to happen...currently I know of a member on another forum who has the same tank for the past 38 years

I think it happens more to acrylic rather than glass if the right glass thickness is used

Vamp was the tank glass or acrylic

bummer, but at least no more carpet when youre done!! I had to look at the half full glass too... Similar thing happened to me before as well.
