What kind of people do your roommates associate with? Reeally sounds like someone familliar with the situation. Your roomies owe anyone money? Might have even been arranged! All it takes is a little desperation to make nice people do crappy things.

my aunt and uncle got robed about 8 years ago. They had a big dog and it didn't help b/c they just went to the fridge and got some leftover subway out and feed the dog. Then they got away with 1000s of dollars in CDs. It turned out that it was one of my cusins friends friends that had only ever been to the house once. they found him b/c most of the CDs ened up in a pawn shop about a week later.


also i have gotten my truck egged TWICE in less then 18 months, my carport tagged, and some of my lawn ordamnts stolen or broken...... all of this was reported to police and they said there wasn't much we could do. So we turned my truck into inssurance and the second time it happend my insurance guy tells me that if it happns again they might not want to pay for it again b/c its a known problem and I should take more precautions to prevent it, then we repainted the carport, and rearanged the lawn.
Needless to say but all this started going wrong when we got new neighbors (hmmm i think i know who did all this) but the cops just tell me that there hands are tied and they make there report and off they go

get strapped man, and get a big caliber dont mess with he little s***, if they were smoking crack a .380 or a 38 might not even put them down let alone stop them...if you dont have any guns I would get one or some, just for protection they might want more next time...i've been robbed twice the second time I had to defend myself and shot a 15 yr. old kid that was trying to steal some marijuana I had when I used to deal with it. I got off with self defense as he was in my home with a gun and had already shot at me after I went for mine under the couch cushion. Its better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
Edit: or get a doberman, rottweiler, german shepard, pitbull, boxer etc... they make great watch dogs and guard dogs...my 6 month old female blue brindle APBA registered american pitbull would make them wish they were never born if someone tried me again.

AGREE 100%. THIS IS COMING FROM AN INSURANCE APPRAISER.

I'm an agent and there is no reason to try and put in a claim. Most likely his deductible will exceed the cost of his xbox. Once you call the company to even inquire about a possible claim it goes on his insurance record. Even if there was no money paid out it will still hurt his insurance record for the next 3-5 years. If the deductible is less he still would only receive a small amount of money.

Keep this in mind though - is there anything in your house worth a human life? Certainly protect yourself or others but is an XBOX or marijuana really worth killing someone over? Also, the gun does nothing for you if youre not home or dont know they are there. In the OPs situation a gun would have done nothing.
