Post some pics cam...What color and brand is your sand??? Sand is mostly glass, glass is non magnetic....

The sand is imported from South America. It's called Chilean black.
Supposedly it's from an area with volcanic activity. (so they say) A bunch of guys with shovels go to a beach, bag it up, and send it over.
My dad is an accountant at a pool manufacturing company. They have well over a hundred different types of sand from all over the world in a huge warehouse. From all of the 3M's to thousands of dollars worth of all glass beads. This one caught my eye.

Hahaha! I can imagine that sand has some metal fragments.

Ever test your water? Dont think it would effect your parameters (specifically ph) but you never know....

I bet it is alluvial?...Sand from mining gold and diamonds...It is a concentrate by-product of the mining process...Partially magnetic black sand is the result...I think this is what you have.

I'll have to test it tomorrow. I only have salinity and Ammonia testers at the moment and all the LFS are closed.

interesting..

"Here's a pic of the gravel. Pretty much every black piece of sand in the pic is magnetic. "

seriously though.....bring water by tomorrow or something, we'll check the PH at least.
