I've just got home from work to find my IDIOT of a dad has topped my MARINE tank up with very cold FRESHWATER!

EVERYTHING has died, 20 blue legged hermits, sea slug, torch coral, candy cane, flame wrasse, 2 wreckfish, even all the algae has turned grey and started peeling off the glass and rocks.

I have ONE fish thats just alive, my clown fish, ive put him into water from my other marine tank so hopefully he will live.....

Why did he decide to do this?
I'd like to know this too.

Don't kill the clown yet. Is it doing well at all?

:banhim:...from his house...lol

on a serious note, sorry for your losses... that sucks bad!! i dunno about you, but my fish are like a pet dog or cat to me..... so i feel for ya

He.. did... what!?

make him replace every fish and invertebrate.

Well your suppose to top off marine tanks with only freshwater.... The temperature really doesn't even matter that much either if he didn't store it in the fridge. I think you have bigger issues than him doing a favor for you.

His dad obviously didn't dechlorinate the new water.

My dad forgot to dechlorinate water before putting it before. I wouldn't blame him he just wanted to help......

sorry bro if that is why, but i doubt it

even if he didn't dechlorinate, ammonia wouldn't go insane so fast, and temp isn't THAT big of a deal, but it does matter depending on the species

sea slugs/cucumbers are crazy sensitive and will release their poison at the slightest itch

id bet that what happened was the sea slug got somewhere near being slightly uncomfortable and released its poison, then after a little bit, the slug died from the ammonia

try not to kill him, maybe flip his mattress while he's sleeping
