Man that sucks:eek:, i'm sure you already have done it, but let him know how mad/bad he made you feel, if he is any kind of decent father, knowing you let your kid down is 10X worse then anything you can do to him even if he doesn't show it. I've had my run ins with my parents before about my reptiles, but i didn't realize this until i became a father my self. I would deffinatly have him replace your stock though even if it was a accident. good luck with the clown too.

Or you could take him to the store with you and pick out stock together. And during the whole trip, you can be gently explaining the delicate nature of aquaria. A good opportunity to bond and educate. Just sayin'.

He says it was an eye-sore with the low water level. Im going to clean up the tank in a minute and see if I want to restart it. The clown fish is in a breeding net box in the other tank and seems to be fine actaully. The fish in that tank would eat him though.

I found this bit quite amusing, if I choose new things for the tank, he'll buy it, depending on price.....this is comming from the guy that thinks £20 is a major waste of money for one fish

Yeah, I don't know, I think it's a good opportunity to either get you a larger tank or better stock to make it up to you. Obviously it sucks your tank died off, and I'm sorry, but I'm sure you can work it to your advantage.

Lesson learned. It sounds like an accident too. Maybe for now on tell him not to touch the tanks. Sounds like your dad puts money into your tanks, plus he lets you live there probably giving you a break on rent/bills. Try to be more grateful.

Its just fish, you act like he lost an arm.

Always respect your Parents..
ALWAYS..
As for the tank.. I agree,, if your gonna jave saltwater tanks get an RODI unit or have frash RO water fron a LFS on hand at all times..
Also..
Like in my house..
There are rules about the tank..
RULE #1 DONT TOUCH IT OR DO ANYTHING. unless you ask me first,,
Rule #2 Dont touch it or do anything unless you ask me first.
Rule #3 If anything looks or seems strange.. DONT TOUCH IT until you have talked to me for the proper thing to do..

Also..get an auto top off for you tank.. this will make your life much easier..
Automation makes this hobby so much more enjoyable.

ALSO I have trained me wife to be my tank Buddie..
you should have one person in your house or a friend or someone you can count on that knows what to do in an emergency..
AND you could make a "checklist" on the inside of your stand door or somewhere for step by step actions to take for things to do and not to do...
ie; water change, top offs, feeding, power loss. stuff like this..
I have thousands of dollars just in the set up not counting thousands in livestock..
A few hours to teach and type is worth it to protect your investment..
