I use a stainless steel fork and I just stick it through it. Some people say that forks are dangerous to fish though so you might wanna be careful. I'm planning to use spoons or butter knives eventually. There's also something called a screwcumber. You can look into that. People also use rubber bands to tie the veggies onto rocks.

I think maybe an eye hook might even work... Just saw off the pointy end.

i just realised i called the screwcumber a device, making it sound all posh, basically its a slightly stretched out spring.

a couple of pounds here in the uk, they arent expensive. ebay is where i came across them, so i would imagine a few dollars.

You start to feed that pleco regularly and he will stop cleaning the algae. Feed twice a week...something that sinks, shrimp pellets, algae wafers, blanched veggies. A pleco is opportunistic and will eat just about anything but they can get picky.

Ive never heard anyone say that before. I have two albino sailfins and they are fed DAILY and I have never seen algae anywhere in the tank. .

all the bristlenose ive had have been like this too.

I don't use light on my pleco tank so I can't say anything about this. My plecos are fed daily too and they're never on the sides of the tank. They're usually on the bottom. But maybe that's cuz there's no algae on the walls of the tank.

there's no algae on the sides of my tank, but mine sucks itself on there.

Why do you not light your pleco tank? How do they distinguish the night from the day? I would assume it gets their body cycle all mixed up.

I don't light it cuz I don't really have use for it. I can see my fish fine. In fact, I spend a lot of time just sitting on the floor in front of the tank. There are no plants so I don't really need light.

I'm not sure about the body cycle... You do have a point though. Any thoughts on this? I'd just be concerned on whether or not it would be hazardous to their health or not.

the reason I ask this is because when my lights are on, he is really active, and swims around place to place.

When the lights are off, no matter what time of the day, he doesn't move. He just sits on the bottom of the tank.

I would assume it throws something off.

Hope others can elaborate.

I am going to make a thread about this so this thread doesn't get de-railed.
