I moved my 20-22" Aro yesterday into a 180, and now I am noticing a bit of gill curl. The tank has been up and cycling for sometime now and is only inhabited by a 20" marble cat. I check water parameters and temp before moving him and parameters were good. Today the outter gill membranes are some what curled and I am clueless as to why. Any suggestions as far as treating this aside from a tank change and areation?

pic would be good, i have seen an aro that problem, although it does not look like a live threatening desease, its ugly and sad to look at.
sounds like the desease is about to start?
if it is theres very much still a chance to fix it before u do the surgery.
i might be able to help if its not too late

LOL, flametory post coming from the regular :nilly:
i might be noob in keeping an aro first hand, it is because i decided i finally am financially sounds and could house atleast one for the rest of their live span.
besides i have pretty big house and monster fish tank would be suitable to decorate my house with ;)
again i grew up arround arowana since i was kid and i can tell u its before the internet invented :)
plus none of my fish died one my care since i was pretty much a kid.
does it help if i tell u i used to breed fighter fish and sell it for profit and make them fight for money too when i was a teen?
do u know how much damage a fish after hours of fight?
and yes i always brought them back and be ready for another fight days/weeks after.
so yeah i could help the OP if its not too late, and my answer will not be "generic" answer like put salt or do more WC:ROFL:

how is gill curl NOT threatning? The thing thats supposed to cover and protect the gills are starting to curl, eventually exposing the gills themselves. Gill curl is also not a disease... No advice is better than bad advice...just saying...

Dayak, I wasn't flaming you, so no need for tears.
Just shocked you know how to treat gill curl, after all the problems you had with your baby Aro when you got it.

What tank was it in before the 180? It could be that it was there that it started getting gill curl, but you're not noticing until now.
