I don't think i am too picky on getting my hands on particularly rare fish. but one thing i notice is when we suggest fish in places like say, END ALL MINI MONSTER thread, I notice its kinda hard to actually find anywhere selling those sooooo necessary fish (too quench our thirst for power in small packages).

And for me the problem is funny... i cant find Pike livebearers, Acestro. Isaline, Charax Gibbosus, and Lebiasina astrigatas worth a damn! :nilly::nilly::nilly:

No website i visited actively sells them (most dirty websites just have them in stock listings with a small picture of the fish, a price tag and a big fat OUT OF STOCK sign thats been like that for probably the entirety of business)..

AERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGAGDGGFGFG

Imean, if its gonna be that hard to find an alternative to a $5 pacu at starbucks, kids aren't gonna go through the trouble!!

We'll i think the cool thing about that kind of animals is that they are "rare" and hard to find, makes the achievement of getting them even bigger :p

Did you try to mail/call a local fish store of where your desired fish comes from? maybe the want to ship them for "some" cash :p

I'll tell you what I was told by a very wise person on these forums.

when you are getting into rare and hard to find fish. You need to do a few things

Get the aquarium ready that they will go in.

Get the money around that you are willing to spend plus the shipping money.

Get the word out the the vendors that you have cash on hand and what you want.

and WAIT.

Good post. The problem with bringing in some of the smaller rarer fish is finding a market for them. Difficulty of getting them in, acclimating them and the potentially shorter lifespan of smaller fish makes it more difficult for importers to bring them in. If you give a vendor the impetus of a definite quick sale they have more of a reason to find the fish for somebody.

I agree. I also feel that finding and acquiring healthy examples of the fish you want to keep is half the fun. To get the healthy bichirs I wanted I found a
Hmong owned hole in the wall fish store in Sacramento that had the most beautiful specimens I had ever seen and all very well kept :D
