but yeah crowding can lead to stress which lead to fatigue and illness which lead to piranha attacks.
 
according to my CSI skills it was a staged suicide

true...but lots of people like over stocking and havent had any casualties. but yeah over crowding can lean towards the smallers being picked on etc. could even drop your temp a bit and make less territory grabs in your tank

ya wright, but lowering ur temperature will also reduce their agressiveness and appetite. many ps owner like da spectacular aspect of feeding. i personnaly keep my temperature high to increase agression in my tank...n i lost one...haha over crowded do...i learned
 
It happens, but dont be put off by it, sometimes you can have perfect conditions for them, and it'll happen.
