Conkel is controversial whether you like it or not, no use throwing a fit about it because someone pointed that out. It's not like they said "DON'T BUY FISH FROM CONKEL!"
 
i did not read every thread on here, so I will just list my two suggestions. The two vendors I have dealth with online, who have excellent fish that have exceeded my expectations: Ira and Dan Ye Jennings.

i would take a look at floridatropicalfishdirect.com as another option along with ira and rapps.

To be fair, CCA had Don as the speaker for last month's meeting. Those who are inclined to believe everything that he says walked away believing a lot more amazing things about him and his operation. Others walked away with the same lingering concerns...and more questions. Probably because, as I was told, that he gave almost exactly the same presentation that he gave at the ACA convention in 2004.

The OP can search "Conkel" if he wants to open the proverbial "can of worms" on this subject. I'm not gonna wade in...

Will as far as i am concerned the fish speak for them selves,and ira doesnt just sell conkels fish he gets fish from many sources,so implying that he only sells conkel fish is nt correct.
The only reason i said anything on the subject is that i have noticed every time some one on here mentions ira or cichlid conection name as a vendor,dog of war aleways has something negative to say,maybe i am starting to see what the problem is with big events like the aca,people acting like they are the know all to be all with half truths and information acting bigger than what they are,hope i am not making a mistake going to the aca(hope its not full of people making assumptions of people they have never dealt with)

and back on the subject,i have dealt with rapps,ira,fishjunky,snook21,sharkaquarium,jgentry, and i must say i have been satisfied with all of them as far as quality of fish and service.
So out of any of those you should be very well satisfied.
 
I would try Jeff, Ira, Dan Ye Jennings, The Fish Junky, Snookin21, jgentry and Shark Aquarium. All are good I haveb't delt with all of them but these are the ones with a good reputation that I'm aware of. Good Lluck and let us know how you make out.
 
Given your location and not wanting to spend much on shipping, I'm guessing Dan Ye would be the best way to go ... closest one to you I'd imagine.
 
It's funny, I've emailed or PMed some of the sellers listed here and they don't seem that interested in selling fish. I won't name names, but some of those listed have put up fish for sale they don't have, or claim to have "pairs" that aren't really pairs, or simply don't respond to emails or PMs (or if they do it's after a couple weeks and a few PMs to tell me they don't actually have the fish).

I mean, it's not like I'm some new member to this site with pipe dreams, I make money and I obviously spend a lot of it on the hobby if you go through my threads... I don't know why some people don't seem that interested in selling fish when they supposedly sell fish for a living.
