ooo My New Fishie!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Mixing it with a clavus most likley would be a problem. THe calvus doesn't get very large and is much more peacful. Really a calvus would do better in a tanginican type aquarium with other lamps or julies and the like...

I'd start it on a good flake food and supplement it's diet with spirulina flakes. I'm a big fam of ocean nutritions formula 1 & 2 flakes for most african cichlids. OSI is a great flake food too. There are other great flakes out there also. Frozen foods for algae eating fish are great choice also (again formula 2 from ocean nutrition).

Having a pair of these guys together might be a problem. It's not uncommon that they fight. I saw earlier that someone mentioned they bite eyes when they get large. I believe this is a myth. THier nick name is the malawi eye biter but in almost 20 years of keeping them and knowing people who have them, I have never had one or heard of one removing the eyes of another fish. Not sure how that name got started.

Alright thanks for the help. Guess I will have to start myself an entire new aquarium for him and let my bf keep the other and do what he wishes, I ll be sure to let him know not to put it with the calvus cuse I know thats where he will put it, and frankly I dont want anything to happen to mine or his. I am feeding him Nutrafin Spirulina flakes it was the only one I found in my lfs a majority of my Africans eat that. I knew The calvus stayed smaller so thats why I wasnt sure. Well thanks for the help =)
