Yup. Scared the living babies right out of them. Benefit is that I know which group they came from but I will be phone Maury Povich to find out who the father is. Haha

What kind of fish are they? Based off the photo, they look like some sort of African cichlid.

Well done. Time will tell what variety they are as I’m unsure who the parents are.

I mean do you know the type of African cichlid? I'm not an African cichlid guy, so I cannot tell the species/origin lake very well.

Are you sure that they laid eggs in the bucket?
Do you think it is possible that one of the female Lake Malawis was holding some fry in her mouth when you moved them?

Just the idea of African cichlids laying eggs in the bucket, fertilizing the eggs, and the eggs hatching without being eaten sounds really really strange to me.
