open top tanks: how to prevent escapes

Actually, over here in Hong Kong, a lot of these styles of tanks are now adding lids to their tanks... although haven't really looked into how they keep the glass above the tank, since it seems flush to the top...
 
^ I did say a lot... but not all... i don't think most of the ADA ones have a lid... which should be a bit of a redeeming factor?
