Just checking to see if anyone has open tops on their tanks. I'm thinking about getting rid of my glass tops & getting the coralife adjustable mounting brackets for my single aqualight. The glass tops get so dirty & are so cumbersome when cleaning. I also love the look of the open water, much more evenly distributes the light too.

Gauging how likely I'd have a lot of jumpers or any probs with water condensing onto my aqualight. I know I'll have a lot more evaporation but don't mind it.

FYI, I have about 17 mbuna in a 55g. I have had one isolated jumper that launched out during a feeding frenzy. I know there's no foolproof way, but haven't had any jump when I've had the tops off for cleaning over the months.

Thanks for any input!

thanks for the input. Well I guess I can get something to substitute that I could more easily cut out slots for the mounts. I'm just suprised no companies have come out with tops that can be used in conjuction with those adjustable legs.

We've got a 4x3x2 tank at work with Mbuna and a few haps. Its an open topped setup with sump. So far i dont think that we've had any fish jump or at least none that im aare of.

Looks greta with an hangind light were running and aluminare (spelling)

Thanks for the input. I'm going to take my chances against some of the advice. My upper-scale LFS has all open tanks with a ton of AC's and they said they very rarely have losses from jumping. We'll see what happens, I know it's not foolproof.
