Fish has an open wound on his face (this is how I got him) He won't eat, I think its because of the damage to his jaw, it could be very possible that he has a hard time making his mouth open. The wound on the side of his face is rather large and swollen. Today I notice (you can see open flesh) that there appears to be white "hairs" on the wound. I took as best pic's as I could, to try to show you. I am trying to save him, but if I can't get him to eat I might have to put him down. Any advice here is welcome, thanks for your time

i say put salt and do WC and it should heal. thats what i do

The fish has developed a secondary fungal infection. Do a 50% water change and add an anti-fungal medacation to the water as per package instructions. I don't know where Tonga is so I don't know what meds are available to you (API Fungas Cure is a good one). To treat the primary wound you can apply iodine or mercurochrome directly to the wound using a cotton swab. This in conjunction with the anti-fungal meds should clear up the problem. Another option if no meds are readly availble would be do the water change add aquarium salt and swab the wound as mentioned above. Good Luck.

You don't think the reason he won't eat could have something to do with you just caught him from the wild, transported him in some sort of tiny container that was exposed to all sorts of unnatural noises and plopped him in to a fish tank where nothing is familiar and some huge monster (you) keeps sticking its face in his?

This fish has never had so much light around it, never had the view of a person in its face, never had the view of a HOME, has never heard a radio/TV until now. He ate live bugs and fish in his old home, and you are trying to feed it what? He has always had the ability to swim a long ways from anything that was threatening or scary before, but now that doesn't work.

It came from water temp and pH of X and you have put it in a tank with a water temp and pH of Y.

Ohh and it also has an infection from the injuries it received as it was violently yanked from the water by its lips.

Yeah I would wonder why its not eating too. :screwy:
