I can still find them for $200 before shipping on the internet but the only LFS that sells them here wants $300.

they are 300 here at the lfs too............its the suggested retail price (MSRP)

It locks the Valve Block to the Motor Head. Its actually a plastic lever, that looks like a key which is located under the Key Cover. I know this cuz, I have the directions in front of me. Although there is no mention of opening the filter for maintenance.
I can't remember which one it is that prevents the siphoning. so I leave them both alone till I re-insert it to the moter head.

In any case, I will be in touch with Marineland customer service, and discuss this with them.
I have dealt with them many times before, and is one of the reason, I purchase their products.
