I'm trying to convince my hubby on *letting* me buy this, or get this out of my head....we have a 125g and would LOVE (at least I do) to upgrade.

On craigslist someone is selling a 265g complete...lights, hood, stand, filters (not sure what type) for $800. He was originally asking $1200 for it last month when I last talked to him about it, and really needs to sell

what do you think?? I really want this, but we currently live in a townhouse and it would replace the spot were our 125g is. Plus, if you look at my tank setup, you'd know we will need a bigger tank sometime, esp with my marble pim aka achara catfish

does he enjoy the fish as much as you do?? sooo is it the $$$ that's the issue or the idea of having more tanks??? cuz if money isn't an issue i'm sure you can just cut him off untill he sees things your way haha. try to compromise.........tell him you'll sell the 125 or not.....tell him you can get it for cheeper than 800 i'm sure if he's hurtin the guy will go lower. good luck

Good points. I asked him and he didnt respond.

do you think it's a good deal? I rechecked the posting and old emails from the seller....it does Not incl the hoods/lights...

depends on what your idea of a good deal is........free is the best hahaha. but yeah i'de say it's worth it........wish i would have seen that in my area befor i got my 125.....oh well it's AK most ppl don't have anything bigger than a 55g. just price out what you think all your acc are gonna cost ya......gravel filters heaters lights/hood.......decor and backround lots of other crap you don't think of till you're lookin for it. but if you sell the 125 bare you can salvage alot of it although you will need to add to accomodate the extra 140gal of vassah. cheers and good luck on the CL add ahah oh and w/ the hubby as well

ok i saw that too that was a nice deal , but that tank is 7feet long and your 125 is 6feet long , i hope you had a extra room hihihi , i had a same tank too ,it took 6 guy to carry it good luck my friend

exactly, but I'd keep almost everything in the 125g....the decor and sand, and of course the fishies. I haven't used heaters for over 10 years. I had a bad experience with them as a teenager and fried my prized tank....we keep our house at 72 year round, so the water is the same temp.....

I know my boss would buy our tank. He's mentioned it several times over the years, but I'm afraid to negiotate with him....he's truly a lowballer.

So, with the 125g I'd include the tank, stand, 2 aquaclear 500 filters, hood, lights (new), and background....I'm keeping the UV sterilzer though

So, I'd need to get for the 265g more sand....oh is it a B**** to do, background, hood/lights. That would be it.....

How low should I go for the asking price? I told my hubby....well I could offer him $600 and I'd buy it right here and now (credit card of course :D)

Buy it. Offer $700 and see if he bites, but even at $800 it's a decent deal. 265 is hard to find, that's the size I'm looking for in fact...everything seems to be either 6' or 8'.

Even without the hood/lights?? I *know* the tank alone is worth almost twice as much...but it's 7 yrs old....and no guarantee.... Just like we'll be selling our 125g with

So, I'm pretty sure I sold my hubby on it. He of course wants to see the tank in person.

I was thinking of $600 starting right now, then work from there...or does that seem like a lowballer??

We measured and stuff...and it would fit perfectly into the spot where the 125g is now. I'm getting a FX5, so we won't need to have it away from the wall too much like with the Aquaclear 500's we have on the 125.

My hubby's main concerns are:

*What if there's water damage to the stand? Then we'd have to buy a new stand in addition to the hood
*If there's leaks, we can fix them I'm sure, but would be a SOB to do so, esp since we will need the tank up asap with our fish
*Getting it into our back door since it won't fit through our front....we have a fenced in back yard with a hill behind it
*6 guys to get it

I took VERY good of our 125g.....stand in perfect condition, no scratches on glass, and such

I really want it, but just wanted to clarify with those on this forum that it's a good deal, or should I wait for something better? Not too many ppl in our area (western PA) sell big used tanks

Make sure your floor can support over twice the current weight. It's one thing that people overlook when looking at very bit tank. Some may say that 265g isn't that big but that's a lot of weight once it's set up.
