Yeah I would definitely make sure there's no leaks etc, if there's leaks or if the seals look bad in any spots I might pass as you don't have the turnaround time to reseal. Otherwise I'd still go for it.

ask the guy if when you get there he can have the tank filled to show you it holds water.........but then you have to waite to drain it......that's a much better guarantee than his word haha. well you could get a bunch of buckets and airpumps to keep the fish alive so you don't have to rush too much, i wouldn't want to make a mistake and then have to empty water to move the stand or whatever. soo you live in a town house.....i'm assuming you're puttin this on the main floor.....i used to party in a 3 story town house, there would be no way to get the tank in the basement.......6 guys seems kinda alot.......i moved my 125 w/ 2 guys and that was up stairs and into the bed a pick-um-up truck that's jacked up bout 12" from stock. but hey i wouldn't wanna drop that bad boy soooo i guess more the merrier!! how bout some pics of this monster!!!

Make sure your floor can support over twice the current weight. It's one thing that people overlook when looking at very bit tank. Some may say that 265g isn't that big but that's a lot of weight once it's set up.

Oh, believe me... I know. Actually we live in a townhouse and it'll be going on the 1st floor, which is concrete. We don't have a basement. But, when we do move into a house, it'll be going in the basement which will hopefully be finished. I'm too scared about the weight issue too

That's not a bad idea. Him showing that it can hold water, at least the bottom part. I'm sure I can have him do it beforehand. As for draining it, we most likely won't be able to take it him that same day so that shouldn't be an issue.

Yes, it's def going on the main floor...there is no basement

Moving the 125g? heck my hubby always did that by himself. He actually built a dolly for doing so.

I'm not sure how many ppl it would take to move it. SOme say 4 some say 6......

Guess what???

$700 via paypal!!

Ain't bad considering he was asking either $1100 or $1200 for it last month. Oh, it has the hoods. I just have to buy new bulbs, and it includes a sump tank. It's black too.

We're gonna go look at it on Sunday and check things out. Then I'll make arrangements for moving it.....my hubby measured and it'll actually fit in the minivan, but have to move the tank and stand separately.

As for pics....I deleted his email from last month that had them. I'm waiting for him to resend them as earlier today they didn't go through right.

I have talked my hubby into it as long as it's in decent condition!!

I can't wait....but on the otherhand I'm dreading the transition as I'm the one who takes care of the fishies....

flash him with cash... it be hard to say now if he can walk away with 600 cash in hand.

I thought about that.....I asked him in an email about taking 700 for it, which this is before I saw the tank...going on Sunday

I found out it has corner overflow boxes, which I'm not too keen on right now. I was planning on down the road hooking up a sump tank, which my time will be limited the day we get the tank.

$700 is a very good deal for the system. Reef ready tanks are more expensive then non reef ready tank because of the overflow and drilled holes.
I think the seller wants paypal to make sure that he is getting his money and don't flash cash at him, because that can be insulting.
You would need 5-6 people to carry the tank, depending on how strong the guys/gal are; the more, the better.
To be sure, ask him to fill it up with water to see if there are any leaks.

Well, actually, I was the one who asked if he'd take it via paypal as I don't have that much cash on me right now (hubby just changed jobs)

I know it's a deal. I'm just not sure if I want to deal with the overflow right now, esp since it'll be for freshwater

any ideas on the overflow.....can I plug up the holes? Hook the FX5 filter to it? UV sterilizer?

this is an obstacle for me now...the overflow compartments. That's going to be the deciding factor, as long as it doesn't leak

One more thing I forgot about until now. The tank sat in the guys garage for over a year. He never filled it as he got it from one of his friends. That means it was subject to hot/cold for how many months. The reason why I'm mentioning this is when I was a teen, I filled up one of my dad's old 20g tanks. I filled it, sat out overnight checking for leaks. Was fine until a little over 24hrs later that the whole thing sprung a leak. I blamed it on sitting in the shed exposed to the temps
