opinion on buying 265g

You can either plug up the hole for future use, or you can use those holes and connect to the canister filter.
If you go fresh, I would plug the hole and use the canister because the canister does a better job circulating the water, if you don't mind having the heater, filter hose, and expose as compared to using a sump w/ overflow where everything is hidden.
As far as seals goes, I do not have any experience in that department.

Thank you for the responses... I really appreciate it. I think we're/I'm just gonna try and hook up the sump, and also do the canister on it. My hubby thinks there's no main issues with the sump, but he's not the one doing it.....

If all goes well that there's no leaking, I'm pretty sure we're gonna take the tank....maybe even keep the 125g instead of selling it

I would buy it. Sumps are easy to hook up and low on maintenance.

i would hook up the sump and say screw the Fx5. besides i would put 3 Fx5's on mine. thats if it didn't have the SUMP. hook it up you wont regret it.

went to my lfs yesterday and mentioned the deal on the tank, issues I'm having with it, etc. She said for me to bring the sump to her and she'll help get me everything started.... She also said don't let this one go...

gonna put my 125g in storage, as soon as we get a unit...until we get a bigger house....yay!!

The seller is filling the tank up with water today for me

sorry, we're going down tomorrow to pick it up. We couldn't get things arranged for last sunday....but, we rented a cargo van for it, and am picking up quite a few ppl to help transport it. Not sure if we'll have it up and running tomorrow or not as we have to clean it out and fix some boards on the stand. I did get rest of the stuff (so I think) for the transfer

the tank itself looked brand new!! No algae residue or anything. He said he never used the tank, but from who he got it from used it for slider turtles (?)

I WILL give an update and pics once up and running

I"m absolutely clueless on the sump system for it for some reason....I'm just not getting it....I think he gave us too many hoses that was used for something else, and we're missing 2 connectors (not sure of technical name)......came with 2 pentair quiet 1one 4000 submersible pumps and a 30g sump tank. Gonna post that I need help with this in the filtration/DYI section.....and maybe go to my lfs tomorrow....

Thank you so much for all of the responses. I am def glad we got it....it's up and running. We started the process of breaking down the 125g to setting up the 265g yesterday at 5pm, and got done so to speak at 3am. Some issues, but can be fixed. I'll put up pics on a different thread
