I think L_C knows about the tank size issue... Ive been yelling at him about it for like a year! Im a little uspet though... I seriously dont see you setting up a 180-240 for him in the near future man. Dovii actually grow FASTER after 12" in my experience, so your 125 will last him a good 4-5 months. Which, when you think about it, is really not good.

And ON topic, feeding your fish feeders is okay from time to time, but i dont think it really affects the fish's health/color in a positive way. If you really want it to be healthy for him, spend some dough on cheap tropical fish like some sort of warm-water tetra, baby convict, etc.

:nilly::ROFL::grinno: LC u set yourself on fire:FIREdevil with this thread :ROFL:did u just decide when u got out of bed the other day that well geeewhizz i shure could use a few verbal knots on my head from my buddies at MFK haha :grinno: and no there is no reason to give the dovii feeder fish to many other good food choices out there like nightcrawlers for example if u have to give him somthing alive.

Haha relax man... Im not being mean or anything. I consider you an online friend, not enemy... But get a bigger tank!

In all honesty im much more concerned about you keeping the snowflake eel in freshwater w/ aquarium salt than with your 13" dovii going into a 125.

LC, since you know you need a larger tank in the future, im not going to bring that up because its been beat to death. In my opinion, your 75 is fine for now for a single Dovii and you know that you'll need a 2 foot wide tank. A 135 should be alright for a while too. I don't know who thinks this fish will reach 2 feet in 5 months. It won't, shoot, most Dovii I see on this site and in captivity barely reach the 20 inch mark and that is an old fish.....Anyway, so yeah, get the 135 for him, it will hold him for a little while, or just bump right up to a 180 and house him for life.

Alright, sorry, back on topic......In my opinion (which is also my disclaimer, haha) I feel that Piscavorus fish should be feed live feeder fish from time to time, it has nothing to do with physical health, it is for mental health for a purely predatory fish. Of course warm water fish are better for it, try breeding mollies or convicts as mentioned earlier....Pellets and frozen are alot more nutritional for your fish however and will bring out his colors more then a live fish diet.....really, if you only feed live, your fish will have a good chance of getting HITH unless you are really gut loading the feeders before sending them in.

Alright, guess thats about it from me.

Just having some fun LC don't be bitter about this it's your fish dude do whatever u want. Hell i bet u could get atleast half dozen more dovii in there haha:grinno: We can call up mojo get him to come over with his shoehorn and crisco:ROFL::headbang2

I feed feeders as often as Possible ;) But I Know what my fish need ;) I am A purist to a point and Hey Piscavorous means Live fish . I am also a MONSTERFISHKEEPER which sets me aside from most of the posters as a MONSTER :D Go figure...

I don't keep Dovii.. But I can guarantee you Omega pellets don't bring out half the color in Cichla as Live fish do. ;)

And for the rest of everyone else ;) Dovii featured on Mojo's site.. HHmmm IT EATS FEEDERS too :D As a part of the varied staple diet :) Just my opinion of what I read from the diet part of the pic...
