I've been keeping aquariums for 8 years now. I have kept everything from a nano reef to my Oscar that lives in his own 55g. I've dabbled with African cichlids and had a small brackish tank for a couple years. Basically the point of this thread is to help me brainstorm a possible setup for my new tank.

30 1/4" Length 18 1/4" Width 57 7/16" Height 56gallon Marineland Column tank. I am running roughly 2 1/2 to 3 inches deep of substrate. I am running a Marineland BioWheel 200 which came from my oscar tank (which is now running 2 Marine BioWheel 350s) and a brand new Marineland Biowheel 200. Reason I am running two 200s instead of the 350 is the 350 wouldn't fit. Also running a 250 watt Marineland Stealth Heater.

I'm looking for something unique and something that I haven't done in the first paragraph. Obviously it will be freashwater and I'm looking for something that allows for a couple fish versus 1 or 2 big ones.

I know this is the place to come as I use to be a previous member with these boards and know there is alot of good help out there. Thanks in advance and look forward to brainstorming with whoever posts.

That's a very interesting tank you have. I don't think I've ever seen one that's almost 58" tall!

A tank like that sounds like it would be good for:
angelfish
tetra's
apistogramma
cories
small loaches
peacock eels
Hatchetfish
Killifish
Gouramis

I don't know, just some idea's. You could do some serious "layering" with a tank like that. Definite bottom dwellers, definite mid-dwellers, and definite top-dwellers. Good luck with whatever you choose!

Oh, is it going to be planted?

I miss typed the height lol sorry bout that yeah that would be an amazing tank, I retyped the correct size.

24" height

Can't seem to figure how to edit so sorry for the extra posts. Work is crazy so my brain is working correctly :). Here is the exact dimensions 30" x 18" x 24" from the marineland.com

Ahh 5 posts to be able to edit. This should take care of it.

Ok, 24" height is much more likely. still, most of the fish I listed will work in that tank. The angels might get a little crowded once they're fully grown, but everything else would still work. A couple pairs of apistogramma and some small loaches or cories would be nice.

I'm looking more on the oddball side of things and less on the common. No live plants.

Not necessarily these fish but using these as examples. African Leaf Fish, Bichirs, knives, and other things similar to these.
